TTYA Talks Series 1

TTYA Talks Series 1

I started working on TTYA almost 3 years ago now, and as much as the journey has been amazing the hard work that goes into running a business on your own can be an extremely lonely experience. Its taken me at least 2 years to understand the importance of asking for help. Asking for help is not a form of weakness, if anything its shows strength.

Saying that it’s not always easy to find someone you feel comfortable asking or exposing yourself too. That is why I started TTYA Talks. To create hub where we can come together inspire, get inspired, share knowledge and really provide key tools for growth.

In honour of London Fashion Week, I launched my first series of #TTYATalks with guest speaker Caryn Franklin MBE. I hand-picked a panel of amazing women who I was SUPER excited about, to share their inside fashion knowledge. The panel included myself, Caryn Franklin MBE and Laura Taylor. In honour of London Fashion Week, I launched my first series of #TTYATalks with guest speaker Caryn Franklin MBE. Caryn Franklin MBE

Caryn is a British fashion expert. She was former Fashion Editor and Co-Editor of i-D Magazine, and has been a fashion commentator for over 34 years. A broadcaster, writer, director and producer, she has worked with many major networks to produce TV shows and documentaries, including BBC’s The Clothes Show

As a fashion activist, she has co-chaired Fashion Targets Breast Cancer, the award-winning All Walks Beyond the Catwalk (with Debra Bourne and Erin O’Connor), and is currently studying MSc in psychology in fashion.

Laura Taylor

Laura is the Co-founder of Solace London – a contemporary womens wear brand with a distinctly British sensibility and a design aesthetic. Formally brand Director of AQUA BY AQUA (AQ/AQ), Laura has a wealth of experience in collaborating with global talent and industry leading image makers and has dressed iconic women including Suki Waterhouse, Anne Hathaway, Rhianna, Lily Collins and Chanel Iman.

INVITE SERIES 1

I’m still learning everyday and the biggest advice I can give is ‘if you don’t ask you don’t get’ its that simple. Caryn has inspired me so much in my career, I even worked backstage at a clothes show many a year ago! I never in a million years imaged sitting on a panel with her! I just might frame the below picture haha.

GQ Men Of The Year Awards 2015

WHERE : London, The Royal Opera House

WHEN: SEPTEMBER 2015

WHY: ADVENTURES

I had the pleasure of attending the GQ Men Of The Year Awards 2015. Awards are pretty boring to be honest… however surrounded my soo many good-looking men I weren’t complaining!

Anyways….Its  always about the after party!

This year the party was held at the Royal Opera House and was sponsored by Ciroc. Obvs I wore TTYA – the wrap dress to be precise, which I paired with a stand out red lip and some barely there sandals. in the words of Ludacris ‘Looking, smelling, feeling like a million bucks-ahh!’

The best thing about the night was the 3D photobooth – all now I still don’t have the pic *sad face*

A few pics below!

Enjoy

Tall Girls Take NYC

WHERE : NEW YORK CITY

WHEN: JULY 2015

WHY: WORK / ADVENTURES

For those that didn’t know – I used to live in NYC a million moons ago so every time I go back its like I never left! NYC in the summer is amazing! The streets are buzzing (so are the mosquitos) – I just love the vibe.

I took a trip back this summer for some work for TTYA and forgot how much I love the city.

I was lucky enough to get a comp’d room at NewYork Edition. Located in the heart of New York City’s Flatiron District, steps from Madison Square Park, the hotel seamlessly blends the integrity and character of a prestigious landmark building with a simple, sophisticated design sensibility.

From the first night it was straight into party zone. A HOTEL LIFE celebrated its 2 year birthday. I lived the TTYA cami mini dress pretty much the whole time!

Vogue-Blog-7

Dutch model Imaan Hammam has already walked for the likes of Alexander McQueen and Versace, as well as appearing in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Imaan, who is of Moroccan and Egyptian descent, is an absolute goddess with the best hair I’ve ever seen!!! It’s always amazing to see women of colour we can relate to on these covers!!!

In celebration of the cover Imaan Hammam x Vogue NL threw a party which I had the pleasure of attending. The music was so on point! Rnb, Hip Hop and my absolute fav AFROBEATS!!! Everyone was dancing which is very rare to see at fashion parties!

I love Amsterdam so much as it’s the only city I go to and feel short. The women are so tall, graceful and fully embrace being tall, it’s so refreshing! No one stares at you in the street or makes stupid comments like ‘Your so tall’!
